The D-CIS Lab organized the 9th European Micro Aerial Vehicle Conference and Flight Competition 2009 (EMAV09) in collaboration with the Technical University Delft (TU Delft). The event took place from the 14th till the 17th of September.Micro Arial Vehicles (MAV¹s) are small unmanned air vehicles that fly and navigate autonomously. As "eyes in the sky", MAVs can be used for many tasks including surveillance, identification and tracking of vehicles. In crisis scenarios, MAV¹s will help improve the situational awareness of authorities and decision makers. The autonomy and artificial intelligence needed for the success of MAV technology is one of the research areas where D-CIS is active. This acts as a significant incentive for D-CIS to bring EMAV to the Netherlands. In 2011, the D-CIS Lab will host the International Micro Aerial Vehicle Conference and Flight competitions (IMAV) in collaboration with the TUDelft.
