Smart Surroundings is one of the 9 BSIK ICT projects, funded by the Dutch government. Smart Surroundings is about the core architectures and frameworks for future ambient systems. These future Smart Surroundings is the network of mostly invisible computers and applications that humans will use to do their information based work. Other BSIK projects like ICIS and LOFAR connect to this vission because their applications depend on the availability of a smart environment.
