The 4th D-CIS Human Factors Event continues the tradition established in previous years of facilitating the collaboration between academic institutions and industrial organizations to explore Human Factors issues via novel information dissemination and discussion methods.
The 4th D-CIS Human Factors Event will be held on the 8th and 9th November 2011 in Delft, the Netherlands. This year’s two-day event includes an open conference and an invitation-only workshop focussing on integrating human considerations within and across the design of complex systems (Human System Integration; HSI). Additionally, the D-CIS Human Factors Event 2011 will host a dinner debate where discussions about a current ‘hot topic’ will be held between courses.
There are three broad goals of the D-CIS Human Factors Event 2011.
First, the goal of the conference day is to highlight Human System Integration (HSI) success stories, either with regard to a specific application, product or domain, or with regard to the use of Human Factors methods in the design cycle.
Second, the goal of the workshop day is to work in small groups to solve specific and current HSI problems. The focus will be on tools and techniques for an optimal integration of the human component in the design cycle.
Finally, and overarching the initial two goals, the three activities together (conference, dinner debate and workshop) should facilitate communication between participants with the goal to establish future collaborative research projects.
As an outcome of participating in the event, it is our intention that delegates take home new ideas, new knowledge and new practical solutions for successful Human Systems Integration.
