Workshop Multi-touch technology uses

multitouchTable.jpgThe corporate Human Factors research laboratory for THALES and part of THALES Research & Technology Nederland, (managing partner of the D-CIS Lab research collaboration), organises a session of workshops on multi-touch technology uses. A first workshop will take place on Tuesday, April 6th 2010. A second workshop, as a follow up, is planned for the end of 2010.

Workshops context:
The timing coincides with the start of two Human Factors studies within the HFCL together with THALES divisions to look at the usefulness and usability of the multi-touch technology for the human in different contexts:

- naval mission planning (non real-time operations) in a collaborative context
- air traffic control (real-time operations) in an individual context

In a time when multi-touch technology receives more and more attention, the HFCL is interested in sharing the
experiences between people already familiar with the use of the technology and those starting to become
involved with it.

Workshops format:
The first workshop will be organized in four parts:
General presentation of multi-touch technology: history, general uses until now and general state of the
art on the benefits of the technology (HFCL).

- Presentation of projects that focus on the use of this technology and that have already started or have
  finished and feedback on them
(by attending organizations fitting this case)
- Presentation of projects starting around multi-touch technologies, both scientific and applied
(by attending organizations fitting this case)

- Identification of questions, either arising from research or users, and selection of main ones to be
addressed by the projects still running or starting
(all attendants / moderation by HFCL)
