The IMAV2011 (International Micro Air Vehicle Conference and Competition) organised by D-CIS Lab partners Thales and the TU Delft was a big succes.
The MAV technology is coming up real fast. MAVs are not only getting more stable to fly but also are getting more smarter. They can perform tasks autonomously.
In the future we will see lots of applications were MAVs will be used. Think of monitoring embankments or oil pipes, measuring toxic gasses in the air, or exploring buildings that are on fire or are heavily damaged by an earthquake. Also for crowd management it would be very sufficient and cheap to gather the necessary information.
The IMAV2011 was organized by TU Delft and Thales Nederland. Both partners in the D-CIS Lab
The D-CIS Lab does research in intelligent systems where users and systems work together optimally. These systems can make decisions in consultation with each other and the user or autonomously. By collaboration between these intelligent systems in micro robots and the end users, the air robots can be used more efficient and new applications will be possible.
